I was raised in a little community called Beaver Lake just west of Sudbury, Ontario. I attended High School in Espanola, Ontario, after which I studied Geography at the University of Guelph. I then attended the University of British Columbia, graduating with a degree in Geophysics. Up until 2005 I lived in Calgary and worked for Gulf Oil, Schlumberger-Geoquest, Landmark Graphics, and PanCanadian Petroleum/Petrovera Resources. In 2002 I started an energy consulting business and in 2005 I moved back to Vancouver,BC. Continuing on my rather chaotic career I then worked for Alderwoods Group, Electronic Arts, Telus, ICBC, BCIT, and BCNET. I finished my career as the CIO for TRIUMF, Canada's National Laboratory for Research into Particle Physics and Nuclear Medicine.

You might ask why I maintain my own web site. The answer is simple. I hate that Facebook, Instagram, etc. track you, sell you, and cause you to get inundated with advertising and targeted content that may not be good for your mental health. You are safe from all that here.
